Global audiences present unique challenges. A promotion that works wonders in one country might not make sense in another, and your B2B customers have entirely different needs than your retail shoppers. Previously, Boost’s Merchandising strategies were applied globally, which limited your ability to create these tailored experiences.

Merchandising by Market is designed to close that gap, transforming your single storefront into a collection of localized shopping experiences. It’s about connecting with your customers on their terms, showing them the right products, at the right price, in the right context.

How to build your first localized rule

We’ve integrated this powerful new capability directly into your existing workflow, making it incredibly easy to get started. This feature is available for both Commerce Search and Collection Merchandising.

When you create or edit a merchandising rule, you will now see a new required field: Select market to apply.

Here, you have three powerful options:

  1. Store Default: This is the classic setting that applies the rule across your entire store, just as before.
  2. Specific Countries: Choose this to apply a rule to a single country. You can now boost a collection of winter coats just for your Canadian shoppers or feature swimwear for customers in Australia. Country-specific rules are available on all plans.
  3. Specific B2B Market: For stores on Essential plans and above, you can create rules that apply only to your B2B customers. This allows you to merchandise based on wholesale catalogs and pricing, completely separate from your B2C strategy.

The best part?

These rules are smart. When you target a specific market, the conditions you set for Price and Inventory will automatically use that market’s data. A rule to boost products over $100 will use the market-specific price, ensuring your promotions are always accurate.

Note: A/B testing for merchandising strategies with a selected territory is currently not supported. When creating an A/B test, if a market-specific merchandising strategy is chosen as the control version, a warning banner will be displayed.

Manage your market-specific merchandising strategy

To help you manage your new localized campaigns, we’ve updated the merchandising dashboard. You’ll find a new Assigned Market column, so you can see your campaign targeting at a glance.

We’ve also added a new filter, allowing you to view all the rules for a specific market in just a few clicks.

Furthermore, you can now test search functionalities within specific market contexts. This new feature allows for a more precise and realistic simulation of how search results will appear and perform for customers in various geographical and cultural regions.
